Wall and Ceiling Repairs and Preparation in Aberdeen
Preparation is most of the job. Cracks, dents, nail holes, blown patches of plaster and old water stains all show straight through a new coat of paint. We repair and seal them first, so the finish is smooth and stays that way.

What's included
Repairs we carry out before painting
Every quote includes the preparation, materials and a full tidy-up, so the price you see is the price you pay.
- Filling cracks, holes and dents in walls and ceilings
- Patching small areas of blown or damaged plaster
- Settlement cracks in new-build homes
- Stain block on water marks, smoke and nicotine staining
- Mould treatment on walls and ceilings before repainting
- Sanding back flaking paint and priming bare areas
Filling cracks and holes
Hairline cracks, picture hook holes and dents are filled, left to dry fully and sanded flush, then spot primed so they don't flash through the top coat. Recurring cracks along ceiling joints get a flexible filler or a scrim repair so they don't come straight back.
Patch plastering and making good
Where plaster has blown, come away with old wallpaper or been damaged by fittings being removed, we cut back to sound plaster and patch it in before painting. Larger areas that need a full skim or replastering are a job for a plasterer, and we'll tell you honestly if that's what your wall needs.
Stain block for water and smoke marks
Water stains, smoke damage and nicotine will bleed through ordinary emulsion however many coats you put on. We seal them with a dedicated stain block first. If a water stain is from an active leak, the leak needs fixing before we paint.
Treating mould and damp staining before painting
Black mould around windows and on cold external walls is common in North East homes. We kill and clean it off properly, then use an anti-mould paint where it's likely to return. Painting can't fix rising or penetrating damp, so if we see signs of it we'll point you towards getting the cause looked at first.

FAQ
Wall & Ceiling Repairs questions
Do you do plastering?
We do patch repairs and making good as part of preparing for painting. Full skims and replastering of whole walls or ceilings are best done by a plasterer, and we're happy to tell you if your job needs one.
Why do cracks come back after painting?
Usually because they were filled with a rigid filler in a spot that moves, like a ceiling joint or a corner. We use flexible fillers or scrim tape on cracks that are likely to move.
Can you paint over a water stain?
Not with normal paint, it will bleed through. It needs sealing with a stain block first, and the leak that caused it needs to be fixed.
